WELCOME TO THE

International Wildfire Alliance

THE WORLD LEADING

Integrated Wildfire Management Team

As a non-profit organization, the International Wildfire Alliance (IWA) unites some of the world’s top wildfire specialists to share knowledge, respond, and mitigate the growing global wildfire crisis.

We believe in a world where communities live in harmony with fire-adapted landscapes, transforming how we engage with wildfires by shifting from reactive firefighting to proactive fire management. This transformation involves integrating modern technology, traditional ecological knowledge, and science-based practices to mitigate risks before wildfires occur. It emphasizes collaboration between communities, governments, and industries to create fire-resilient ecosystems through prescribed burns, strategic fuel management, and comprehensive wildfire education. By fostering a culture of preparedness and resilience, we aim to reduce the catastrophic impacts of wildfires on lives, property, and the environment.

By empowering individuals, communities and organizations, we foster a culture of sharing knowledge, supporting one another, and working together to manage fire responsibly, thereby mitigating disaster while promoting healthy ecosystems.

International Wildfire Alliance (IWA)

The International Wildfire Alliance (IWA) is a global coalition of wildfire specialists from Canada, South Africa, the European Union, and the United States. We provide a wide range of services, including Wildland Response Crews, Training and Capacity Building, mentorship, advisory support, Incident Management Teams (IMTs), and wildfire mitigation expertise. Our mission is to assist governmental agencies and private sector organizations in addressing the escalating threat of wildfires with innovative, effective, and sustainable solutions.

Our mission is fueled by the generosity of individuals, businesses, and government grants, allowing us to deliver critical services to countries in need. We partner with global corporations to drive real change, leveraging their support to combat wildfires and reduce the planet’s carbon footprint. Together, we are not just responding to wildfires—we are reshaping the future by creating a world where wildfire resilience and environmental responsibility are priorities.

At the IWA, we believe that social responsibility goes beyond just fighting fires—it’s about empowering people to manage their landscape. We equip firefighters from developing nations with the tools, training, and resources they need to respond effectively to wildfires. More than that, we ensure they earn the same as their counterparts in Canada, the U.S., and Europe. By leveling the playing field, we’re not only saving lives and protecting ecosystems but also building a future where all firefighters are valued equally.

Make a Difference in the Fight Against Wildfires

Your generous contributions enable the International Wildfire Alliance to respond to global wildfire challenges with expertise, resources, and training. Every dollar helps us build a safer, more resilient world.

Here’s how your support makes an impact:

  • Empowering Communities: Your donations subsidize firefighter wages, allowing us to assist countries that otherwise could not afford our services.

  • Supporting Operations: Funds help cover critical expenses like crew movements, equipment, and wages, ensuring our teams can respond effectively wherever they are needed.

  • Building Capacity: Contributions also fund travel for our trainers to deliver essential wildfire management training to communities and crews worldwide.

  • Reducing Emissions: By enabling faster response times and supporting prescribed burning practices, your support helps mitigate the catastrophic emissions caused by uncontrolled wildfires.

Together, we can reduce the devastation of wildfires, protect lives, and combat climate change by reducing global emissions.
